KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr.
Janette Klingner
Janette Klingner is a
professor in bilingual, multicultural special education at the
University of Colorado at Boulder. She was a bilingual special education
teacher for ten years before earning a Ph.D. in reading and learning
disabilities. Currently, she is a co-Principal Investigator on 2
research projects funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S.
Department of Education and a co-Principal Investigator for an Equity
Assistance Center (Region VIII).

Considerations

In this session, the
presenter will discuss challenges faced by educators implementing RTI in
culturally and linguistically diverse schools as well as some of the
assumptions underlying RTI than can be problematic for English language
learners. She will provide recommendations for practice.
