KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Janette Klingner
Janette Klingner is a professor in bilingual, multicultural special education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was a bilingual special education teacher for ten years before earning a Ph.D. in reading and learning disabilities. Currently, she is a co-Principal Investigator on 2 research projects funded by the Institute of Education Sciences, U.S. Department of Education and a co-Principal Investigator for an Equity Assistance Center (Region VIII).
KEYNOTE ADDRESS:
Considerations when Implementing RTI with English Language Learners
In this session, the presenter will discuss challenges faced by educators implementing RTI in culturally and linguistically diverse schools as well as some of the assumptions underlying RTI than can be problematic for English language learners. She will provide recommendations for practice.

The Forum and Networking Event is intended to create public understanding about bilingualism and the education of English language learners in the process of effective Response to Intervention as it impacts the English language learner’s achievement, programming, curriculum and pedagogy.
